![]() I loved getting to travel and give talks at conferences, and, in my free time, I started dabbling in our codebase. After being on that team for a while, I moved to the developer relationships team as a developer advocate, which was similar in that it meant working with external developers, but different in that I worked with developers in a much more scalable way. Q: Have you had transformational or inspirational moments at Dropbox?Ī: I started out on the platform partnerships team, after being a PM at Microsoft, because I wanted to get into a more technical role while still using my PM-type skills. Hack Week production of Dropbox: The Musical It’s fun to think about all the future hours of work I’m saving engineers by building experiments. Experiments are a great way to make sure you’re making good, data-driven decisions at a fraction of the cost of a fleshed-out experience. I also learned that my job isn’t really about writing code, it’s about building a product. I learned that as an engineer, you can’t be too invested in the code you’ve written, because you have to think big-picture. We saw some lift in the data, but it wasn’t enough to justify the change. Q: Anything that you have done/accomplished at Dropbox that you’re proud of?Ī: The first experiment I worked on when I switched to the growth team failed, and I’m really proud of that! We built a flow that changed some of the rules about how shared folders worked. We then run experiments to see which moments work the best for getting people to discover a paid plan that’s right for them. Basically, our team takes all the great new features that are part of paid Dropbox plans and figures out how to incorporate a moment of feature-education into a regular usage flow.
